Sea Point Blinds

Sea Point

About Sea Point Blinds: shading specified for the seaboard

Sea Point Blinds measures, makes and fits window and balcony shading along this stretch of the Atlantic seaboard. Every product is built to sizes taken at your own openings, with hardware specified for salt haze as the baseline rather than as an upgrade at the bottom of a quote.

A coastline with nothing to break the wind

Sea Point is an apartment corridor, not a suburb of stand-alone houses: block after block of floor-to-ceiling glass on a thin shelf between Signal Hill and the Atlantic, most of it on a narrow footprint with little wall to spare. The promenade runs flat and unbroken for kilometres, so the wind reaches this coastline at full strength and the salt spray comes with it, every day and not only in a storm. The sun arrives off open water and is doubled by reflection. None of that is solved by a standard blind off a shelf, which is why every quote here starts with an on-site measure rather than a phone estimate.

What we make

Roller blinds in blockout, sunscreen and double day/night fabric take the glare off Beach Road without losing the horizon. Day/night blinds hold a sea view by day and close against the promenade at night. Aluminium venetians in powder-coated slats shrug off salt spray and tilt the last of the light off the water. Cellular blinds buffer a west-facing room, vertical and panel blinds suit sliders onto a narrow balcony, and concealed, skylight and shaped systems handle renovated blocks. Outside the glass we fit external venetians, shading roller shutters, folding-arm awnings rated for the south-easter and zip screens in locked side channels. Motorisation runs through all of it, and we repair and service blinds on most makes, not only our own installs.

Sea Point and the neighbouring seaboard

The service works right along the promenade and just around it. Green Point lives at street level, between the stadium, the urban park and the harbour edge, and needs privacy thinking as much as the coastal specification. Mouille Point is the saltiest address on the seaboard, one narrow strip between the lighthouse and the breakers, where sealed cassettes and powder-coated aluminium stop being a nice-to-have. Fresnaye sits in the lee of Signal Hill with whole elevations of glass aimed west. Bantry Bay, tucked under Lion's Head where the south-easter cannot follow, is the calm corner of the coast with the evening sun square in its eyes.

How a job runs

A job always runs in the same order. You send the form or use the chat on this site, and one of our expert consultants will contact you shortly to arrange a free in-home measure. That visit reads your exposure and your building's rules as carefully as it measures the glass: the consultant brings samples, measures every opening precisely, checks hardware against your position on the seaboard, and settles fabric, weave and control room by room.

A written quote follows with each opening itemised, and nothing is manufactured until you accept it. Pricing is confirmed in writing after the measure and lead times are confirmed in the quote; a budget range from rough sizes is available beforehand if you want one, and it binds you to nothing. Once you approve, everything is made to order and installed level and tested, with an operation demonstration before we leave.

Where we draw the line

The roller shutters we fit are made for sun, heat and glare control on the outside of the glass. They are not security-rated; that is a different product, quoted on request, and we will not describe a shading product as securing your home. We do not estimate from photographs or over the phone, because a fourth-floor corner balcony and a sheltered recess on the same block are different jobs. We will tell you when a face is too exposed for an awning to make sense, and which finishes we will not fit this close to the water. And we only quote for the products in the range on this site.

Getting in touch

The enquiry form on every page and the on-page chat are the two ways to reach us; the chat answers product and area questions at any hour. An enquiry books a free in-home measure, not a purchase, and if you are still gathering ideas you can say so and we will point you back to the field guide instead of chasing you. Under POPIA the details you share are used only to arrange your consultation call-back and quote, and are never shared beyond that.
